Oh, Jane Fonda, one of my favorite blondes. This is a simple look really. Just remember it is all about the eyes. This is a look that works well with most pale/light to medium complexions with the products mentioned below:

FACE: Apply concealer where needed. For me, this is applied under the eyes and I like Prescriptives Site Unseen Brightening Concealer. Apply a matte foundation like Estee Lauder Fresh Air Makeup Up Base if you like liquid or Maybelline Pure Stay Powder Foundation (not pictured) if you prefer a powder. Cheeks are super sheer with the faintest hint of a flush. Use a tiny bit of Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Pink Frosting. I love this color and formula for a faintly flushed look.

EYES: Fill in brows with an easy-blending powder and brush into place with a wax. Urban Decay Brow Box is a great product for this. The colors in Elizabeth Arden Color Intrigue Eyeshadow Quad in Sueded Browns are nice for this eye. Take the lightest shade, a pale beige, and apply all over the eye lid from lash line to brow. Take the medium brown shade and apply from lash  line to crease. In the crease, apply the darkest espresso brown shade and blend with a nice blending brush. Take this same dark shade and apply it to the bottom lash line with a fine brush. Apply more of this shade to the crease and go as dramatic as you feel comfortable with. Next apply a liquid liner such as MAC Liquid Liner in Boot Black. Apply a thick line and wing out slightly. Curl lashes and apply mascara but to get the real deal look, apply a strip of false lashes like Ardell. Coat bottom lashes with mascara.

LIPS: The lips are super nude and almost look like concealer applied over the lips with a balm added. You could use a color like NYX Round Lipstick in Iced Honey or Chambord for a beige-ish nude color or B-52 if you want a little more pink, OK much more pink but still have that 60’s nude lip. Sorry, I have no pic of these but they are in my own collection and I love them for these kind of looks.

I really think that this looks needs a fresh, green, citrus scent such as Prescriptives Calyx. I really need to pick up a new one of these, almost out.

Such talent and style! I love Stevie Nicks. I find that she is one of my accidental style icons. Somebody that I’ll see a picture of and realize that I wore an outfit very similar without even knowing. It must be that closet gothness that we both share. To get this look:

FACE: First apply concealer where needed, Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Concealer. Apply a satin, light-weight foundation like Bobbi Brown Oil-Free Even Finish Foundation in your shade. Dust a translucent powder over foundation to prolong wear and absorb oilies, Almay Pure Blend Loose Finishing Powder. Cheeks are very nude with a slight hint of color. Take a fluffy blush brush and apply a color like Estee Lauder Signature Silky Blush in Nude Rose.

EYES: Well, we really can’t see the brows in this picture but I can imagine that they are groomed into place with a clear wax like Anastasia Brow Fix Clear Wax Pencil. Eyes are all about looking awake and wide-eyed. Apply a slightly tinted eyeshadow base like Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Shadow Base all over the lid. From lash line to crease apply a white eyeshadow like Clarins Single Eyeshadow in White Marshmallow. Take a warm brown eyeshadow and lightly blend it into the crease and on the bottom lash line, something like Covergirl Eye Enhancers Eyeshadow in Brown Smolder. Apply a pencil eyeliner very closely to the top lash line in a dark brown shade. I like the smoothness of Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in Dark Chocolate. Apply a few coats of mascara to top lashes and one coat to bottom lashes, a formula like Bobbi Brown No Smudge Mascara will do.

LIPS: Lips are shiny and a rusty bronze shade. Apply a lip gloss in a bronze shade like Pur Minerals Pout Plumping Lip Gloss in Bronze Sassolite or Iman Luxury Lip Shimmer in Copper Tone (not pictured), whatever you use, it needs to be super glossy.

That’s it. Oh, don’t forget those finger tips! use something like SpaRitual Nail Lacquer in Inner Sanctum or Butter London Nail Lacquer in Aston (not pictured). I think this look demands an ambery perfume. I’m thinking something like Regina Harris Amber Vanilla Perfume Oil, doesn’t the bottle just look like something Stevie would have?

I love Dolly Parton, even made up and fake Dolly Parton. She’s a beautiful gal. I’m really loving her look on her “Hello, I’m Dolly” album cover. It’s a “natural” Dolly, not really how most of her think of her. This is a great look. I love a peachy lip.

FACE: Apply a foundation like Prescriptives Virtual Skin Super Natural Foundation in your shade. Apply concealer if needed to even out the complexion. I like Dior Diorskin Sculpt Concealer for the under eye area. Dust with powder if needed with something like Almay Pure Blends Loose Finishing Powder. Cheeks are peachy perfect. I love Shu Uemura Glow On Blush in Peach 44. It is the perfect matte, peach blush.

EYES: Sculpt brows into place with a clear brow gel. Boots No7 Lash & Brow Perfector is a nice bargain. Apply a nude shadow from lash line to brow. For Dolly’s complexion this would be something like Revlon Matte Eyeshadow in Vintage Lace. Take a medium taupe shade like Covergirl Eye Enhancers in Tapestry Taupe, and blend from lash line to right above the crease. It helps to do this with your eyes open-ish looking ahead. Apply a thin line of brown eyeliner like Estee Lauder Automatic Eye Pencil in Walnut Brown, closely to the top lash line. Apply a few coats of a lengthening mascara to top and bottom lashes. I would use a Dark Brown or a Black/Brown such as Almay One Coat Nourishing Lengthening Mascara.

LIPS: Lips are peach, pearly, and nude. For a look like Dolly’s try Lancome Le Rouge Absolu Lipstick in Nectariche, one of my favorite shades ever. If you are a bit deeper or tan, try Covergirl Continuous Color Lipstick in Bronzed Peach Shimmer.

This look is easy and so great for summer. Everything I’m “using” is from the Origins line. It’s no-fuss and I love that.

FACE: Even out complexion with Origins Nude and Improved Makeup. It’s oil-free, long-wearing, and has SPF 15. This makes it a hit for summer. It’s a sheer formula, so your freckles will peek through! If you are oily/shiny, apply All or Nothing Sheer Pressed Powder. It’s portable and you can carry it around for touch-ups. Apply a small amount of Pinch Your Cheeks Gel Blush in Raspberry. This gives a healthy, natural looking glow. I can not live without gel blush or cheek stains in the summer.

EYES: If you have unmanageable brows, brush a little bit of Just Browsing Brow Shaper in your shade onto brows. Apply a light beige shadow such as Eyeshadow in Cream Tulle from lash line to brows. Apply a medium brown shadow such as Nutcracker from lash line to crease. I would take a liner brush and use this brown as a liner as well. Apply closely to top and bottom lash line to help make lashes appear fuller. Curl lashes and apply a coat or two of Fringe Benefits Mascara. Personally, I would reach for a brown or brown/black for this natural, warm look, but use whatever you have.

LIPS: The lips are nude. I would protect them with a swipe of Cover Your Mouth Lip Protector with SPF 8.

That’s it. You’re done. This is a free spirited look that is timeless. It works for everybody.

September 1941

Lately, I’ve been wanting Veronica Lake hair badly. This I can’t do, being that I have blunt bangs. The grass is always greener on the other side, right? And I need a “safer” look since I will be toting a sledgehammer and remodeling the new house đŸ™‚ But, I can get this classic look. Anybody can really. It is great for all hair colors, eye colors, and most complexions.

Face: First, even out complexion by applying concealer where needed. I like Clinique All About Eyes Concealer. Apply a matte powder foundation such as Lancome Dual Finish Powder Foundation. Cheeks are super nude. Apply a faint dusting of a natural looking bronzer such as Rimmel Natural Bronzer in a shade closest to your skintone.

Eyes: Brows are perfectly brushed into place and filled in. I love Lancome Le Crayon Poudre Powder Pencil. It has a soft texture and a spoolie on one end. Apply a beige shadow closest to your skintone all over the eye area. A little shimmer is nice. For me, I would use Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow in Buff. Line eyes with a black gel liner such as Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner. Line top lashes only with a crisp line. Veronica has OTT false lashes and I love them. Apply false lashes for the “real deal” (something like Laura Mercier’s lashes) or just go for a lengthening mascara such as Urban Decay Skyscraper Multi-Benefit Mascara. Apply mascara to bottom lashes also.

Lips: Veronica had an amazing and dramatic lip line. Pat concealer around the lips to give the illusion of plump lips and to keep lipstick from bleeding. If you want a dramatic lip line, apply Lipstick Queen Lip Liner in Rose. You can slightly go around your top lip line to exaggerate if you do not have a “natural” lip line like Veronica’s. Apply a full-coverage lipstick like Lipstick Queen Sinner Lipstick in Rose. Apply a dab of a hydrating lip balm such as Smith’s Minted Rose Lip Balm to the center of your bottom lip for a pouty and plump look.

I think a spritz of Badgley Mischka is appropriate for this look. It’s a modern fragrance but it definitely Old Hollywood.

Who doesn’t want a completely made up look every know and then? I love Tanya’s look here. This angel is all made up and it is all about product. Every feature features color. I love it.

FACE: Even out skintone with a foundation such as NARS Balanced Foundation in your shade. Apply concealer where needed. I like the creaminess of Prescriptives Flawless Skin Total Protection Concealer. I like to apply it with fingertips since the warmth of your body helps it to melt and look natural.  Apply a light dusting of Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Loose Powder in your shade. This helps with shine and wear. Don’t be scared of the blush. You want a flush and the only way you can get it is with a bold blush. Try NARS Blush in Desire, a matte hot pink. This is one of my favorite shades ever. Take a large fluffy brush and swipe up the cheekbones. Layer as much as you need depending on your skintone.

EYES: Apply a brow powder such as Bare Escentuals Brow Color in your shade. For the eyes, use Estee Lauder Signature Eyeshadow Quad in Blue Smoke. Apply the lightest gray, blue shade from lashline to just above the crease. Apply the slightly deeper shade, the one next to the lightest in the compact from lashline to crease. Apply the carkest shade in the crease, blend well. Take the darkest shade and it apply it along the bottom lashline for a slightly smoky look. Line eyes (top and bottom) with Avon Glimmersticks Waterproof Eyeliner in Midnight Blue. Coat lashes with a mascara with extra volume. Something like Avon Supershock Mascara in Black. Apply a few coats to bottom and top lashes.

LIPS: Line lips with a pink lipliner such as L’Oreal Infalliable Never Fail Lipliner Pencil in Pink. Apply a blue based pink lipstick to lips, try a moisturizing formula such as Covergirl Continuous Color Lipstick in Pink Chic Shimmer. Apply a hot pink lip gloss over the lipstick. Try Lancome Color Fever Lip Gloss in Volcanic Pink.

This cool toned look works best with blue, green, and brown eyes (any eye color really). Those with “cooler” undertones, blondes, brunettes, and gray hair.

I love a “peaches and cream” look. To get this gamine, simple look, I’m going to use Estee Lauder products.

First apply a sheer foundation if needed such as Nutritious Vita-Mineral Makeup. Apply concealer if and where needed. I like Smoothing Creme Concealer for the under eye area. If you have oily skin or fret about shine, apply a dusting of AeroMatte Pressed Powder. I personally like the sheerness and dewiness of Jane’s look. Apply a delicate sweeping of a blush such as Signature Powder Blush in Peach Nuance. This is a super sheer shade even on pale skintones, keep building until you get what you want. I recommend Deep Spice for darker skintones.

Brows are thick and well, darkened. To keep it super simple, apply a Brow Setting Gel if your brows are out of line. Eye makeup is super simple. Lightly brush a peachy beige shade such as Pure Color Eyeshadow in Peach from lashline to brows. Line eyes with a dark brown liner such as Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil in Coffee. Line closely to top and bottom lashlines to give the illusion of fullness. Apply a no-fuss mascara such as More Than Mascara in Black/Brown. The warmth in the browns used in this look will really make the peaches and cream look stand out.

The lips are what make this look so summery, sweet, and fresh. Keep them simple. No liner is needed. Apply Tender Lip Balm in Tender Peach. I love this conditioning formula. You’re finished! Well, I do recommend a spritz of Aliage. It is a nice way to top off a laid-back vintage look.

So yep, it is so. P & G is phasing out Max Factor cosmetics (commonly sold at Wal-Mart and drugstore.com) starting in 2010 in the U.S. but they are going to continue selling it abroad.  Read about the details here. It’s kind of a bummer. Man, the economy sucks.

Max Factor recently went through that new “edgy” image change with the faces of Carmen Electra and Gisele. They began to offer bolder color choices, even if all the pigments didn’t always live up. I personally love their lipcolors and the bright mascaras. They are the only drugstore makeup line that I know of that offers an Auburn mascara for redheads. I have been through so many tubes of those when I dyed my hair auburn. The Lipfinity 3D  line is really nice and offers some strange color combos like Chartreuse Blend, a lovely blend of green shimmer and deep vampy plum, Midori Glam, a rose with yellow gold shimmers, Violet Vamp, a mauve with lilac shimmers, and Raging Sea, a hot pink with teal shimmer.

The eye shadow trios rarely got rave reviews but I didn’t mind them. I’ve used them for photo shoots and stage performances. You put an eyeshadow primer under this stuff and apply it wet and you get a bold yellow for way less than MAC Chrome Yellow (under $5 for 3 shades). I think people tried to wear the 3 colors all together and that is just a bad idea with all of the trios.

I’m mainly just saddened because I have a heart for “old”. I  love the gentleman, Max Factor. If you are a makeup artist or not, you’ve got to appreciate this fellow. I mean this is the man that literally invented “lip gloss”. Oh, the faces he has touched and the women that he has made famous! (Clara Bow’s pierrot lips, Joan Crawford’s lip line, reds that weren’t too brash for Jean Harlow’s platinum locks). I just don’t want his “name” to die. I also don’t want to fight somebody for the last Lipfinity 3D Chartreuse Blend.

First of I love Joan’s hair on the album cover, so much so that a few years ago I brought it into the salon so that I too could sport this look. All products used for this look are MAC.

FACE: Apply concealer where needed. I like the ease of Select Cover Up because it is in a tube. Even out complexion with a powder foundation such as Studio Fix Foundation plus Powder. Apply just a bit of Powder Blush in Loverush, a sheer burgundy that gives a healthy flush.

EYES: Sculpt brows into place using Eye Brows eye pencil. For black brows like Joan’s use Velvetone. Apply Paint Pot in Fresco Rose as an eyeshadow base. Apply Eye Shadow in Of Summer, a pale mauve pink,  from lashline to brows. From the corner of the eye closest to the nose, take a brush and make a big “hook” shape with a magenta eyeshadow like Stars N’ Rockets. From lashline to crease blend Hepcat, a vivid wine. Take a creamy shadow like the Shadestick in Sharkskin, a smoky gray, and thickly line top and bottom lashes all the way around. Use the thickness of the Shadestick to your advantage! Apply a glittery black eye shadow like Black Tied over Sharkskin. Blend upwards and outwards for a smoky but still very bold look. Curl lashes and apply mascara. Pro Lash is supposed to do it all.

LIPS: Lips are no fuss and very natural. Apply a conditioning lip balm treatment like the Lip Conditioner Stick. So easy, no worries of smearing. Eat a hamburger! Kiss! No touching up!

If I had to choose a matching fragrance I would go for MV 3, it’s tough and sexy and very rock and roll with notes of jasmine, vanilla, and leather.

Sometimes you just want a “natural” makeup look. It is more of a “neutral” look because you wear cosmetics but nothing “screams” out. I really love this look, sometimes. I usually will do one bold thing so it is nice to have a 70’s laid-back but polished look. Pair this with a big floppy hat and you’re ready for summer. I’m using Revlon cosmetics to create this look. They’ve recently came out with a “Beyond Natural” line that really reminds me of some 70’s cosmetic’s trends.

First even out the complexion with a light foundation or powder depending on your skin type. The Beyond Natural Skin Matching Makeup is nice for normal to dry skins and the Mineral Foundation is nice for normal or oily skins. Apply concealer where needed, try Beyond Natural. It also has a nice highlighting cream which is a great addition for this look. Jaclyn’s skin is “glossy” above the cheekbones and down the nose. Normal to dry skins should blend this on the cheek bones and down the nose. Cheeks are warm. Apply Beyond Natural Blush Bronzer in Nude. There are also darker shades for darker skintones, try Plumberry.

Brows are natural and shouldn’t be filled in. Apply a brow gel if you have super unruley brows. Otherwise, leave them be. Eyes are simple. Take a large fluffy brush and apply Matte Eyeshadow in Vintage Lace, soft beige, from lashline to brows. Using a light hand, blend Matte Eyeshadow in Rich Sable, chocolate brown, into the crease. If you are super pale, you could leave the Rich Sable step out. To give the illusion of thicker lashes, line the top lashline with a soft black liner pencil such as Matte Luxurious Color Kohl Eyeliner in Black Truffle. Apply the line thinly and use a soft hand. Apply mascara, a bunch of layers to top lashes and one to the bottom. Try a product like Beyond Natural Defining Mascara in Black.

Take a bit of the highlighting cream included with the concealer and dab it over the top lip and blend upward. This will give a “pouty” look and keep color from running. Apply Beyond Natural Cream Lipgloss in Spice or Deep Spice for deeper skintones (both are warm nudes). It is shiny and provides medium coverage. (If you must have a lip liner try, Colorstay Liner for Lips in Nude.)

It sounds like a lot but it isn’t. A look like this should take less than 10 minutes, especially if you leave out lip liner and brows.
