I just want summer to be here! Here’s a very easy to wear sunkissed 70’s look. It’s a nice look, but man, I hate 70’s hair…

FACE: Apply a no-fuss tinted moisturizer to clean skin. I like the formula and color selection of Bobbi Brown SPF Tinted Moisturizer. Dust a natural looking bronzer like Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder all over the face. Apply a little more to the cheeks to use as a blush.

EYES: Brows are thick and very natural. Apply a clear brow wax such as Anastasia Brow Fix Clear Wax Pencil. Apply a cream eyeshadow with your finger tips to the entire eye lid. I like the color of NARS Single Cream Eyeshadow in Corfu, a slightly glimmering taupe. Line top lashes and bottom lashes closely with a soft liner pencil like L’Oreal Le Kohl Pencil Smooth Defining Eyeliner in a charcoal shade like Smoke. Apply a black mascara to top and bottom lashes.

LIPS: Lips are a pale taupe. MAC Lipstick in Tanarama is the perfect shade for this look. Apply it to lips and then blot on a tissue to finish this laid back look.

This really is a simple, quick look that works blondes, brunettes, redheads, anybody with a warm, tan complexion. You can even be like Ali and not wash your hair for it…

I love coral makeup. Corals, peaches, apricots, salmons do so much for my complexion. I know many people stray away from coral, thinking of their Italian-American great aunt with the deep olive skin paired with electric coral lipstick, sandaltoe pantyhose, and open toe “bone” colored pumps. I think great-aunt is a Sophia Loren-ish fox, but I have learned that many people dislike the look. I think coral works on the peaches and cream complexions and the deeper Floridian complexions. I many not wear MAC Morange lipstick everyday but I do wear lots of soft shades of coral/peach. It is one of the few things that can liven up my pale, pasty PNW vitamin D deficient complexion. Bobbi Brown’s Cabana Corals is a “fresh take on an old favorite”. It’s a collection of coral shades that are so everyday neutral.

FACE: There is a Nectar Shimmer Brick. This is an amazing complexion enhancing shimmer powder compact with warm peach, coral, beige shades. This is better than bronzer for my skin tone. It also looks great used as an eye shadow.  There is a Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick. This is a shimmery blend of warm pink, mauve, and sands. This one creates a soft, candlelit rosé sparkling wine look. It is very pretty. Both retail for $38. There are new shades in the Pot Rouge for Lips & Cheeks. First things first, I love this versatile product. Cabo Coral is a peachy pink/salmon that really works for me. It adds a petal softness to my complexion and looks very natural. There is Calypso Coral which is a brighter coral. This works better for medium complexions. These go for $22.

EYES: There are a few new shades of Eye Shadow. Caviar is a black brown netural that makes a perfect lining shade. Navajo is an eye opening white with a hint of pink. Both colors are great for everyday wear and retail for $20. And there is the Extreme Party Mascara that I haven’t tried. It goes for $22.

LIPS: There are a few new shades of Shimmer Lip Gloss. Coral Sand is a peachy gold shimmer. It reminds me of NARS Orgasm lip gloss. There is Golden Nectar which is a warm neutral coral shimmer. Sunset Beach is more pink than coral with shimmer. It looks great with a tan. These retail for $20.There are 3 new shades in the Metallic Lip Color. Calypso Glaze is a warm pink shimmer. It looks very nice with a bronze smoky eye. Coral Glaze is a “nude” with a hint of peach shimmer. It is a very pretty neutral that looks like it belongs with thick cat eye makeup or smoky eyes. Coral Reef is a medium pinky coral that would work wonderfully with copper eye makeup. There are 2 new Lip Colors. Cabo Coral is a warm pink coral. I also like this Cabo Coral. It looks very nice with green eye makeup. Guava is a medium “lip color” pink. It is a better than natural color. All lip colors go for $22.

I think like most Bobbi Brown colors, that these are great everyday staples. I see them working well with paler peaches and cream complexions and those with a tan. I feel many of these colors work well with charcoal smoky eyes, metallic bronze eyes, smoky green eyes, and even “boring” matte beiges. The colors are nice and will take you from spring to fall. All items are available at specific department stores and bobbibrowncosmetics.com.

I’m a sucker for chalky pink lipstick. The other thing that I am a sucker for is “cateyes”. So, I’m loving Claudia’s look. To get this look:

FACE: Apply concealer if and where needed. If you have under eye circles to cover, I like L’Oreal Visible Lift Line-Minimizing Under Eye Concealer. I would apply a powder foundation like Clinique Perfectly Real Makeup Compact in your shade. Apply a little bit of bronzer to cheeks as a blush like Maybelline Expert Wear Bronzer Pressed Powder in Salsa Sun.

EYES: Brows are brushed in place and filled with a powder. I would use a brow powder/wax kit like Estee Lauder Brow Perfecting Duo. Apply the powder with a brush then set with wax. It’s simple and really completes a look. Apply a light shadow like Clarins Single Eyeshadow in Vanilla Beige from lash line to brow. These eyes are all about the liner. I love Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink. Take a liner brush that you are comfortable with. For me, this is a thin and fine point art brush. Apply the liner thickly to the top lash line and winging out. Apply a “half” line to the lower lash very thinly. Connect your top and bottom lines for a retro look. Apply a few coats of black mascara to top and bottom lashes.

LIPS: Make sure lips are well moisturized and not flaky. You may want to exfoliate and deep conditioning lips a day before doing this look. Chalky pink lipstick is so pretty but it doesn’t work on dry lips. NYX Round Lipstick in Strawberry Milk is the perfect shade for this look. It looks just like the color Claudia is wearing in the photo. Apply it directly from the tube on healthy lips. I’ve been through a few tubes of this shade. It’s a great retro pink.

This Katharine look is all about the lips. It’s a very versatile look that many people can wear.

To get this look:

FACE: The complexion has a nice healthy glow. Apply concealer to under eye area if needed. I like Clinique All About Eyes Concealer. Apply a tinted moisturizer or a sheer foundation for an even but natural look. I like Origins Nude & Improved Bare-Faced Makeup. A dusting of a luminous loose powder will really make skin look glowing. Use my all time favorite luminous powder, Guerlain Meteorites in Beige Chic. Cheeks are accentuated with a bronzer in an upwards motion. Apply Maybelline Mineral Power Loose Bronzer Shimmer Loose Powder in Sunlight Bronze (not pictured).
EYES: Brows are very natural looking. Just apply a clear brow gel or wax like Revlon Brow Styling Gel to keep brows in place. Apply a sheer and shimmery champagne shadow from lash line to brows. Try something long-lasting like Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin. From lash line to the crease, apply an illuminating golden shadow like Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Glimmer Eye Shadow in True Glow. Apply a brown eyeliner closely to the top lashes. Applying this is all about making the lashes appear thicker. Use something like L’Oreal Micro Liner Ultra Fine Eyeliner. Curl lashes and apply a few coats of mascara to top and bottom lashes. I like an all around product like Bobbi Brown Everything Mascara.
LIPS: This look is all about the lips so make sure that they are perfect. Line with a rust colored lip liner like Lipstick Queen Lip Liner in Rust. Apply a golden reddish rust shade of lipstick like Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in Autumn. This is a beautiful color with a smooth formula (not very long-wearing). Apply a coral lip gloss over the lipstick, something like Kevyn Aucoin The Liquid Cyber Lip Gloss in Datura for extra shine and sparkle.

Here’s another Rita Hayworth look that I love. It’s a clean, fresh, glowing look that is all about the lips. There was a reason why this woman was once voted to have the best lips in the world by the Artists League of America. I feel it’s the kind of look that will work with all complexions/hair/eye colors if they are going for a vintage look.

FACE: I say go for a glowing, satin complexion. Even out skin with NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in your shade. Apply concealer where needed. L’Oreal Visible Lift Concealer is nice for the under the eye area. Apply a sheer and not too matte loose powder like Sue Devitt Hydrating Marine Minerals Loose Powder. It has SPF 30 to keep skin looking beautiful. Cover Girl TruCheeks Blush in #1 is perfect for this look. Take a big blush and run it all over the three colors and apply to the apples of cheeks. There is enough shimmer in the blush to make skin look flawless but not “glittery”.

EYES: Rita’s brows are penciled and thin. If you must, draw brows in with a thin pencil such as Prescriptives Groom Stick for Brows in your shade. Apply a matte antique white shade such as Revlon Matte Eyeshadow in Vintage Lace all over eyes from lash line to brow. Take a sheer greenish/brownish/gray shade like Bare Escentuals Glimpse Eyeshadow in Moss and lightly apply from lash line to crease. Blend for a “natural” look. Apply a soft liner to the top lash line, something like Bobbi Brown Creamy Eye Pencil in Mahogany. Apply a few coats of mascara to top lashes (after curling) and one coat to bottom lashes.

LIPS: Apply a deep pink lip liner like Avon Ultra Luxury Lip Liner in Rosebud. Apply one of my all time favorite lip colors to the lips: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Cherries in the Snow. Apply MAC Clear Lipglass over the lipstick with a lip brush for added shine.

Such talent and style! I love Stevie Nicks. I find that she is one of my accidental style icons. Somebody that I’ll see a picture of and realize that I wore an outfit very similar without even knowing. It must be that closet gothness that we both share. To get this look:

FACE: First apply concealer where needed, Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Concealer. Apply a satin, light-weight foundation like Bobbi Brown Oil-Free Even Finish Foundation in your shade. Dust a translucent powder over foundation to prolong wear and absorb oilies, Almay Pure Blend Loose Finishing Powder. Cheeks are very nude with a slight hint of color. Take a fluffy blush brush and apply a color like Estee Lauder Signature Silky Blush in Nude Rose.

EYES: Well, we really can’t see the brows in this picture but I can imagine that they are groomed into place with a clear wax like Anastasia Brow Fix Clear Wax Pencil. Eyes are all about looking awake and wide-eyed. Apply a slightly tinted eyeshadow base like Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Shadow Base all over the lid. From lash line to crease apply a white eyeshadow like Clarins Single Eyeshadow in White Marshmallow. Take a warm brown eyeshadow and lightly blend it into the crease and on the bottom lash line, something like Covergirl Eye Enhancers Eyeshadow in Brown Smolder. Apply a pencil eyeliner very closely to the top lash line in a dark brown shade. I like the smoothness of Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in Dark Chocolate. Apply a few coats of mascara to top lashes and one coat to bottom lashes, a formula like Bobbi Brown No Smudge Mascara will do.

LIPS: Lips are shiny and a rusty bronze shade. Apply a lip gloss in a bronze shade like Pur Minerals Pout Plumping Lip Gloss in Bronze Sassolite or Iman Luxury Lip Shimmer in Copper Tone (not pictured), whatever you use, it needs to be super glossy.

That’s it. Oh, don’t forget those finger tips! use something like SpaRitual Nail Lacquer in Inner Sanctum or Butter London Nail Lacquer in Aston (not pictured). I think this look demands an ambery perfume. I’m thinking something like Regina Harris Amber Vanilla Perfume Oil, doesn’t the bottle just look like something Stevie would have?

Thanks to TV shows like Gossip Girl, NYC Prep, and I am sure there is something I am missing (Ricki Lake’s Charm School, haha), Bobbi Brown’s fall collection is “Ivy League”. It seems many people are obsessed with the prep school elite. Bobbi Brown is giving us the “college” aged version. Prep is in and the pun is on “ivy”. The focus is on pencils, very cute, writing=pencils. It’s a back to school color collection. It’s very neutral and contains functional, every day products.

EYES: There is a Creamy Eye Pencil in 9 colors. It’s a smoky, smudgy pencil that retails for $20. It isn’t the most exciting product that I have ever seen but I do know that it is something that would get used daily by many of us. There is the Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow in Gold Leaf. This is a pearly khaki gold highlighting shade, very pretty. There is a Metallic Eye Shadow in Bash. This is a lovely emerald green shimmer. I do love this color as an updated smoky eye. There is the Eye Shadow in Ivy, a lovely matte deep green. All shadows go for $20.The Long-Wear Eye Liner in Forest Shimmer Ink has been launched. This is a long-wearing gel liner in a pearly deep green. I love the color and the formula. It goes for $21. From my experience these deep greens look amazing on brown and hazel eyes and the very rare violet.

LIPS: There is the Lip Crayon. I love this product. I love applying lip color with a pencil. It creates definition and usually the formulas are longer wearing. This product comes in 6 shades and retails for $22. Lip pencils are usually leaning towards a matte side so The Crystal Lip Gloss has been relaunched and layered over the Lip Crayon. The gloss goes for $17.

Overall, the look is very polished and neutral. It is made “young” by the forest green smoky eye. I like the look even though I am not a fan of “prep” but at least the company has made the trend more appopriate for adults. That is my beef with the prep school stuff, a bit pedophiliac. At least this is “of age”. Anyways, this collection has some great everyday products. The green eye would look great on all hair colors, even redheads! Green eye makeup looks great on brown and hazel eyes and sometimes makes blue eyes look even cooler. Sometimes when I wear this shade it almost makes my eyes look lilac. I say if you are a redhead/brunette with brown eyes then go and try this collection or if you have a deep skintone. This is a collection for you.

Have a thing for sailor pants and deep, dark navy? I do. I always fall for that hokey almost costumey nautical look for summer. It just looks cute and quite pin-up with a bit of prep. I try not to dress like it anymore, since there are actual sailors in town and their uniforms are much cuter than my wardrobe. Anyways, Bobbi Brown’s Nautical Collection is that look that I always pull out every late spring. I love a “fresh” and a no-fuss glow.

This collection was inspired by a trip to Normandy. There she was inspired, quite frankly,  by the local’s wind and sunburned faces. So, she created a “sheer” collection. Who knew chapped skin could be so beautiful?

I really like this collection for summer. But, I am going through a big lip and cheekstain phase right now. It is just crisp and Bobbi Brown says it best in her video featured on her webiste: forgiving. (Watch it if you want.) This look really does work for most people. I really think the model’s look featured above does the collection no justice. She looks gross and creepy. The eyes are much too much for a natural, sea-side inspired look.

Cheeks: There is a Sheer Color Cheek Tint in 6 shades ranging from flushed Blackberry to warm Coral. (Model is wearing Lilac). These are super sheer and of the swivel variety. I like it. It retails for $22. Don’t be fooled, you can use these on your lips as well. On cheeks, pair with a powder blush for long wear.

Eyes: Perfectly Defined Mascara is the mascara for this look. I haven’t tried it. I can’t comment but I usually dislike comb wands. It goes for $22. Eye makeup isn’t specified but I’m sure it is Eye Shadow in Ivory and Navy and Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Graphite Shimmer Ink. I think a swipe of gel eyeliner would of been enough for this look…

Lips: There is the Sheer Color Lip Gloss in four shades. These are so pretty. They are bold pigments in a super sheer formula that ranges from delicate pink to hot pink. It makes the pout look so healthy. Colors include: Cabana Coral, Marina Pink, Popsicle, and Sailor. Marina Pink is my favorite, even though I like them all. These go for $20 and are limited edition.

Bobbi Brown Platinum is a pretty look. It’s pretty simple but it does contain platinum pink shimmer and that really does liven up most complexions. It is a bit of a funny look, considering the model is wearing a boy beater and light denim jeans with a huge ass rhinestone necklace that even puts my Granny’s pavé to shame. She’s a pretty gal but she looks a bit drag and man-ish in this. But, anyways.

FACE: There is a Platinum Pink Shimmer Block for $40. It is sooo pretty with shimmery strips of pink, silver, and “nude”. It has many functions such as blush, highlighter, and eyeshadow.

EYES: There are four new Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadow. There is Ash which is a bark brown. There is Steel which is a deeper mushroomy shade. There is Heather which a lovely springy lilac. There is Platinum which is a silvery white. These go for $22. The classic Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner have been relaunched. Geez, I love this formula. And Everything Mascara has been relaunched. (I’ve never tried it.)

LIPS: There are two new Shimmer Lip Glosses: Confetti, a shimmery pinky pale gold, and Glacier, a shimmery silver. There are two new Lip Glosses: Nougat, a nice neutral nude, and Bright Pink, like the name implies but sheer. All retail for $20.

There is a nice OTT Shimmering Body Oil. It has tons of platinum shimmer in a dry oil base. It smells of “Party” which is pretty femme and nice. It is a mix of lily of the valley, violet, and citrus. It retails for $34 for 1 ounce. Pricey, but glamorous. And it looks wonderful on legs.

I am so happy that I saw this before I bought it. It is such a rip! It retails for $70 which isn’t bad for 35 bright matte eyeshadows by Bobbi Brown. Bobbi Brown eyeshadows come in a great formula, pack pigment, and blend easily. I love them. When I saw this I was shocked! Each “pan” is so extremely tiny and it seems you would only get a few wears out of each color. Yes, you get a variety but you do not get much of it. This is not a palette for gals that aren’t afraid of color. This is a palette for gals that just might like to “try” color every now and then. It is 6.3″ long and 4.25″ wide. That is really tiny considering that 35 shadows are crammed into this slim and tiny compact! The shadows which range from in your face brights to some washed out pales come in a sleek (tiny) black compact with a mirror. I will not be buying this and I am so happy that I tried it before I bought it! Another makeup mistake has been avoided!
