I finally bought the solid! It’s a great price at $16. It is a really fragrant solid. It’s loaded with scent of one of my favorite care-free feminine fragrances: Clementine. Clementine is a SoCal blend of night-blooming jasmine, orange blossom, and honeysuckle. It’s heavenly and every time I wear it, I want to move to California. It’s so pretty and easy to wear. See my fragrance oil review for more.

The solid comes in a pretty generous sized container. It’s much bigger than those offered by Lush or L’Occitane. (Think the size of a Smith’s Rosebud Salve). The solid base isn’t very creamy but it is rich. It warms up and smooths on easily with the warmth of your fingertips. It has a shea and cocoa butter base. It’s very moisturizing. The fragrance oils do so well in this moisturizing base. Like most solids, you’ll have to apply this a few times a day if you want to be fragrant all day. The scent lasts on me 2-4 hours.

This solid is available at beautyhabit.com. I can’t decide if I like this or the oil better. I like that this solid is travel friendly but I love the oil because it is sooo long-wearing.

Weekly Cheap Secret:

I love this stuff so. I don’t wear it as a “tanning” cream (since I don’t tan) and I don’t really use it for sun protection. I just like to use it because I like the way it smells and the way it makes my legs look. I’m sure many of you know of this throwback or have used this stuff. This lovely gelee in the metal “toothpaste” tube was always around my house growing up since I lived with sun-worshiping ladies that were naturally tan and couldn’t get enough of that bronzed look. This is a must for “vintage” gals. (It was launched in the 40’s).

This contains an SPF 4. Really, that is enough sun protection for me since I’m not out in it very long anyways. The formula is “greasy” and really packs a shine. Since it has a tinge of orange/bronze, it evens out the complexion. This is why I love to use it on my legs. They look sleek and flawless. This stuff really moisturizes since it has a mineral oil base. It is more of a “treatment” and protects my skin from the drying effects of the elements. It is sooo emollient. I am in love with its’ classic fragrance. It is a heady, jasmine-ish like floral blend. It is an “exotic” floral. Imagine a jasmine and orange blossom blend, very Southern California. This fragrance is amazing and I often wear it souly for that. I use it on my pulse points as I would a solid perfume for a pick-me-up. (If you really love this scent, Demeter offers Suntan Lotion PMU Cologne.) This stuff is so nice; it is nostalgic. It is from a time when beach culture was such a “culture”, everybody was tanning sans the guilt. I love it because it reminds me of a 60’s teen twist B film or a Sandy Nelson or Dick Dale album cover. It is so retro Southern Californian youth. Think surfing and late night beach bonfires.

Since it is tinted, it may stain clothing, swimsuits, etc. I haven’t had a problem with this, but I do wear lots of dark shades. You won’t find me sporting white shorts or a white swimsuit. Just something to think about…

It retails for $9.99 for 3.12 ounces. This stuff can be hard to find; however, drugstore.com always has it.

My husband made an order on beautyhabit.com (for me) and they sent him a Melissa Flagg Clementine sample. I know this stuff has a cult following and is pretty darn popular. I can’t help it that I just now got to experience this perfume oil. The website says, “The fragrance originated from a desire to capture a childhood memory of driving to the Palm Springs area from Los Angeles, as the wonderful scents of orange blossoms and night blooming jasmine permeated the air.” Well, after smelling this fragrance I know why everyone loves Southern California so much. This stuff is amazing.

The fragrance is very simple and true. This can’t be a long review even if I tried. It is a “white floral”. It is so girly and lovely. There are three notes that I can identify and three notes listed. (So my smeller isn’t broken.) First, I smell crisp orange blossom. It’s citrusy but not fruity. Then, I smell the honeysuckle. It is sweet and floral. It smells just like the real thing. It’s like having the windows down and a gentle breeze brings it in for you to enjoy. Finally, there is is the mixing of an excellent quality of night blooming jasmine which smells just like the night blooming jasmine tree that we used to own. It’s a wonderful experience to wear this fragrance. My husband fell in love with. Of course he always falls for jasmine. He jokes that this is all he wants me to wear now. Which is saying a lot, he knows that I have at least 500 or so bottles of fragrance plus samples. He wouldn’t stop sniffing me and wanting to snuggle. Which is nice. Plus, I love the fragrance so it is a keeper.

It is oil based and wore strongly and truly for at least 5 hours. Of course, this was according to my perception which may of grew numb to it after that time. And it was the hottest day here and wore that long. It retails for $42 for 1/8 oz. of oil.

Now I understand why all the young Hollywood “stars” love it so. It is rumored that Lindsey Lohan, Michelle Trachtenburg, and Scarlett Johansson wear it. Well, if it is good enough for Buffy’s little sister then it is good enough for me.
