It is time to mod-ify your look. This look is super simple but really glam. No wonder Urban Outfitters is obsessed with this look.

First apply a tinted moisturizer to even out the complexion. I really like Lancome Bienfait Multi-Vital Teinte Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 30. Use a concealer where needed, if you are like me you can not live without it under the eye area. I love Prescriptives Site Unseen Concecelear. Illuminate skin with Guerlain Meteorites for the Face in Mythic. Love this stuff. Brows are simple and pretty much clean but undefined. Brush brows with Dior Brow Gel in Clear. Use a nude shadow from lashline to brow, something like Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Maui Wowie. Line eyes with a matte cake liner such as NVEY ECO Organic Cake Eyeliner in Black. Wet a thin liner brush and dip in the eyeliner. Line and it won’t budge once it is dry. Coat lashes with a black mascara of your choice. Make sure to coat bottom lashes for this mod eyed look. Dab Lipstick Queen Oxymoron Matte Gloss in Deafening Silence onto cheeks with fingertips. Also use this on lips for a simple and polished look. Fragrance should be simple and “tonic-ish”. I say go for something like Hermes (how appropriate for Jane!) Us Jardin Apres Le Mousson, it’s lovely and unisex.

If you are scared of wine lips but like the look, I suggest you start with something like Alba Terra Tints Natural Tinted Lip Balm in Garnet. This is a traditional lip balm packed with a minty tingle and flavor. It is very sheer. Burt’s Bees Lip Tints have a ton more pigment than this. Garnet is a super sheer plummy, reddish wine. It is a little darker and more red than my natural lip color. The texture of this is kind of thick, which is a bonus. It doesn’t need applied frequently. It is not crumpley or lumpy. The color looks pretty natural with a hint of “wine stain” and very faint sheen. It is great for people that want to try color but are just scared. Alba Garnet makes for a nice pair of training wheels. It has a SPF 18 that doesn’t cause my lips to become irritated. This is rare, most SPF lip products cause me to have itchy burning lips. This product is like a lip stain but it actually mositurizes and protects the lips. It retails for about $3.99 and is available on drugstore.com and most drugstores and health food stores.

I am always searching for that HG mascara. I feel like I’ve tried so much. The thing is I don’t know what I really want. I think I want the dramatic look of false lashes, but the truth is if I want that then I should wear false eyelashes. Thy’re cheaper than trying tons of mascaras. Lately, I have been using Estee Lauder More Than Mascara in More Black. It is a pretty nice formula for everyday. It looks natural, nothing like my false lashes. But, I don’t need a false lash look everyday. This is a super natural looking mascara, imagine your lashes but with a little more wow. This doesn’t clump or flake. It darkens the lashes and makes them appear glossy. It is easy to remove at night. It is a wet formula and is buildable. It’s claim to fame is that it doesn’t make lashes feel dry or brittle. I will agree with this. This was the first thing I noticed. If you’ve tried Clinique’s Naturally Glossy Mascara and liked it then you will like this. This is very similiar but more “grown-up”. It added a bit more thickness to my lashes than Naturally Glossy. The brush seperates lashes and has a point. It is easy to coat every lash with this brush. It gets into every corner. The color is a basic black. If I repurchase then I would like to try a black/brown. I like the warmness provided by brown-ish mascaras. Especially now that my hair is auburn. Since this is an everyday mascara I would like to have it in black/brown. I have nothing bad to say about this mascara. I do wish it was cheaper. I hate paying this much for something I will throw out in 3 months. (It retails for $21, at least Estee offers a gift time.) It isn’t the most glamorous item on the market but it does its job.

I don’t own this and I haven’t even seen it in person. I do think it is cute but I do know that this has the extreme possibility of looking mega cheap in person. Sephora has Tarte Très Cheek Limited Edition Mini Cheek Stain Set which retails for $24 for three mini cheek stains and a gawdy makeup bag. I’ve seen the minis in the past and really liked them. They are small, way smaller than the full-size version. However, I find that I rarely use a whole full-size Cheek Stain anyways before it dries up funky. I liked the tiny sizes. This set has three shades that aren’t sold individually: Posh which is a ripe plum, Fierce which is a bright cool red, and Chic which is a golden infused peach. They look really pretty in the pic and do you need more cheek colors than that? That covers all the bases: purple, pink and peach. Anyways these are infused with all of those “good” things found in the t5 Superfruit Complex. That’s my raver name. I would love to give these a try even though I am not wild about that bag.

I’ve been using this Kiss My Face Certified Orangic Lip Balm in Sliced Peach for a few months and I like it. I have a fuzzy food phobia which means I won’t eat peaches or kiwi or anything “fuzzy” but I love the smell of peaches. This smells real and not artificial and has a fresh peach aroma. It is made of 52% certified organic materials if you care about that.  It has Royal Jelly and Vitamin E and a SPF of 15. Most SPF lip products make my lips feel itchy, uncomfortable and cause a burning raw sensation. This does not which is a big plus. I can’t figure out why some do. This is my “outdoor” lip balm because of the SPF factor. It isn’t too thick or thin. It doesn’t have an offensive odor. It doesn’t last very long because it isn’t a thick lip balm. I do reapply more frequently than with most other products. This doesn’t bother me since I carry it with me and have no applying makeup in public hangups. You can keep reapplying it and it doesn’t get waxy, slimy or hard on the lips. It retails for $3.49 which isn’t a horrible price. You can buy it at drugstore.com or from the Kiss My Face online store.

This is the limited edition Josie Maran Wildflower Lip Color Palette. It comes in a lovely glimmering pink case that can be thrown into a compost pile after use, that’s a plus. It’s biodegradable.  It contains four sheer lip glosses and four juicy lipsticks. The palette is pretty small giving it advantages and disadvantages. It can fit anywhere and is nice for traveling; however, there isn’t a whole lot of product and it lacks a lip brush. Everything contains 100% pure Argan Oil which Josie claims is da bomb. The lip glosses are Delicious which is a soft pink, Amorous which is a rosey shade, Compassion which is a golden nude shimmer, and Radiance which is a nude pink. Delicious is my fave. The lipsticks are Courageous which is a plum, Gracious is a natural rose, Adventurous is a glimmering brown, and Flirtatious which is the creamy pink and my favorite. The colors are very natural and would look amazing on blondes and fair skin brunettes. It retails for $35.

Lips like wildflowers.

Cherry

I was bored out of mind the other day and remembered that I had a few drugstore items on my list. I wandered around a bit because I usually order from drugstore.com and felt lost in an actual store. Anyways, I stumbled across the great Nivea Lip Care A Kiss Of Flavor Lip Balm. Typically, I use Rosebud Salve or Guerlain Divinora, so maybe that is why these are really “fun” compared to my other choices. These Nivea balms are identical to the Labello Tinted and Flavored Lip Balms that I used to buy in Germany. (The Passion Fruit Labello is Nivea Passion Fruit.) I loved Labello because of the awesome smoothness and amount of product in the tube. Nivea is no disappointment. The tube is crammed full of smooth, lip nourishing glossy balm. It is enhanced with jojoba and almond oils and shea butter just like Labello. Cherry has a punch of juicy cherry flavor and a sheer healthy red tint that is your lips but better. Nivea Passion Fruit has a yummy passion fruit flavor and a hint of violet that really works for my skintone and adds a very sheer, natural color to my lips. The texture is so smooth, non-sticky, not heavy or greasy. The hints of color and flavors are so fun without being Bonne Bell Lip Smackers. I am so happy to find these in the States. The drugstore had a Hint of Shimmer too which looks like a champagne shimmer balm. I bought mine for 1.99 and drugstore.com has it’s listed at $2.49. They are awesome and I’m going back for Hint of Shimmer. This is a big deal because Labello retails for $7.95 to $8.95 plus ridiculous shipping charges on smallflower.com and I am so happy that I found Nivea! Heck, the packaging is even the same.
