Carolina Herrera 212 (pronounced like 2-1-2, area code for NYC) is one of those “modern urban” fragrances, something along the lines of like CK One or CK Be. It’s a musky floral that isn’t overly feminine. I can smell “flowers” but they aren’t that strong or really identifiable, it something that resembles a lily. When I sniff this fragrance I pick up the “clean” notes of bergamot and lots and lots of musk. There is a faint hint of sandalwood, but a very modern sandalwood that isn’t so “perfumey”, nothing like a Serge Lutens play on sandalwood. This is just a clean fragrance but not soapy. Honestly, I could see it working for a guy and I really think it could of done better if it was advertised as a unisex fragrance like a CK One.This isn’t frou-frou and the floral is just a hint, very clean. That being said, it isn’t overly masculine, I just see it as a very gender neutral fragrance. No sweetness at all, which is good. This isn’t my favorite scent because it is well, boring in my opinion. But, I could see somebody really liking this, especially somebody that is “sensitive” too scent. This isn’t so complex and it is pretty mild.

It is an EDT and it wears for a few hours. It is a soft fragrance so it never comes on strong, even in the beginning. It wears closely. I think the bottle for the 212 is what is tops. Each end may be used, it is pretty cool, pretty industrial.

I would say to give this is a try if you are a gal that isn’t too wild about florals or sweet fragrances but still want something “modern” and “young”, if you like “clean” musk fragrances,if you like CK One, CK Be, CK Eternity, Philosophy Pure Grace, Issey Miyake, Bvlgari Blu or Black, Sarah Horowitz Peace Comes From Within Mind, Crazylibellule and the Poppies Les Divines Alcoves in Presque Neut, and maybe even D & G Light Blue.

The 1 ounce goes for $46, the 2 ounce for $63, the 3.4 ounce for $83. Sephora offers a .34 ounce roll-on for $18, this is a great way to give it a try.

212 Perfume for Women Eau De Toilette Spray 3.4 Oz by Carolina Herrera

This is the classic hottie look. Long blonde hair and too much black eyeliner. Neither look good on me. The haircolor being worse than the eye makeup on my complexion. I guess that is why I envy this look so much. I can’t really pull it off and I feel I can pull anything off. Smear some red eyeshadow on me or safety cone orange blush on my cheeks or black lip gloss. I can do that but I really can’t do this Bardot look. I still try. When I line my eyes like this, I just look insane. Alot like this gal is today. Just kidding. I believe in the freedom of speech and whatever she says is her prerogative if I agree with it or not. I don’t fine, that is the just the French government.

Anyways apply a tinted moisturizer for this look and concealer where needed.  Try a warm tinted moisturizer like Lancome Aqua Fusion Teinte in a shade darker for a sunkissed look. Apply a bronzer if needed. My all time favorite is NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna. Apply with a huge fluffy brush like Sephora Bronzer brush all over the face. Brows are super natural and messy but not too messy. Apply a clear brow gel like Revlon Brow Styling Gel in Clear. Apply Dior 1-Colour Eyeshadow in Ready To Beige all over the lid. Brush Dior 1-Colour Eyeshadow in Khakis from the lashline to the crease. Apply more or less depending on your skintone. Take a solid black and smooth eye liner pencil like Dior Waterproof Crayon Eyeliner in Trinindad Black, and line all the way around the eyes. Apply a thicker line on the upper lashline and still use a heavy hand but a thinner line on the bottom lashline. Apply tons of black as tar mascara or false lashes. Apply mascara to the bottom lashes as well. Cheeks are very bare. Reapply bronzing powder to the cheeks for extra depth. Lips are nude with just a bit of glimmer. Apply Lancome La Laque Fever in Neutral Current all over lips. Fragrance is simple and elegant so I recommend an intimate fragrance like Crazylibellule and the Poppies Solid Perfume from Les Divines Alcoves in Presque Nue.

I can’t stop buying this little things. My most recent addition is apart of the Les Divines Alcôves Presque Nue: In the Nude Almost. It comes in the classis little paper, travel ready tube. But, this tube is a soft robin’s egg blue with adorable poppies all over it. I love the solid formula because it really sticks with my skin and has a very light, initmate fragrance. Presque Nue is a soft white musk. It claims to have lots of other notes such as bergamot (what fragrance blend doesn’t have bergarmot?), ylang-ylang, jasmine, sandalwood and other stuff. Trust me. All you are really going to smell is a classic, light, clean white musk. Yes, it is synthetic smelling. White musk isn’t a naturally occuring note. This is a very clean musk that doesn’t smell cheap. (No, I’m not talking to you Coty.) This musk manages to be very feminine, think Egyptian musk oil or Philosopy Amazing Grace, and it manages to be almost masculine due to its clean almost aquatic natures. It is soft and blends well with other florals. Especially, white florals. I really like this one. It is pretty simple but smells clean without being all Davidoff Cool Water. I thought that it wore for a long time. It can be purchased at b-glowing.com.

Even though there are like a hundred of these Crazylibellule and The Poppies solid fragrance perfumes on the market, I am determined to have them all. They’re cheap, portable, and most importantly, they smell expensive. My recent addition to my solid perfume collection has been Aux Anges (On Cloud Nine) from the Les Divines Alcôves collection. All you need to know about it is that it smells like jasmine, no matter what else it claims to have in it (bergamot, ylang-ylang, tangerine, jasmine and more jasmine). It’s a pretty strong and authentic smelling jasmine (it is not as strong as L’Aromarine Jasmin). This jasmine is still pungent but wears closely to the skin in this solid form. I love the scent of jasmine and I give this a thumbs up. It isn’t fussy, it’s intimate and  it is sooo feminine. It is a star in the Divines collection. Les Divines Alcôves was a collection that was supposed to represent love and meetings. It is a very soft, polished, and romantic scent. It reminds me of late 50’s bridal magazines because it is so polished and it is so keen on selling romance. It’s trying to sell devotion and monogamy to a generation that is starting to care less (I’m pointing to you candy scented fragrances). It’s a flirty white floral bouquet housed in a butter yellow poppy printed cardboard tube. It’s amazing considering that it goes for $16 and the only other option you have in that range is like Aquolina Pink Sugar glitter or Malibu Musk. Do pick one up from beautyhabit.com.
