Even though there are like a hundred of these Crazylibellule and The Poppies solid fragrance perfumes on the market, I am determined to have them all. They’re cheap, portable, and most importantly, they smell expensive. My recent addition to my solid perfume collection has been Aux Anges (On Cloud Nine) from the Les Divines Alcôves collection. All you need to know about it is that it smells like jasmine, no matter what else it claims to have in it (bergamot, ylang-ylang, tangerine, jasmine and more jasmine). It’s a pretty strong and authentic smelling jasmine (it is not as strong as L’Aromarine Jasmin). This jasmine is still pungent but wears closely to the skin in this solid form. I love the scent of jasmine and I give this a thumbs up. It isn’t fussy, it’s intimate and  it is sooo feminine. It is a star in the Divines collection. Les Divines Alcôves was a collection that was supposed to represent love and meetings. It is a very soft, polished, and romantic scent. It reminds me of late 50’s bridal magazines because it is so polished and it is so keen on selling romance. It’s trying to sell devotion and monogamy to a generation that is starting to care less (I’m pointing to you candy scented fragrances). It’s a flirty white floral bouquet housed in a butter yellow poppy printed cardboard tube. It’s amazing considering that it goes for $16 and the only other option you have in that range is like Aquolina Pink Sugar glitter or Malibu Musk. Do pick one up from beautyhabit.com.

I am obsessed with this stuff! It is a steal and it is amazing. Dabur’s Jasmine Hair Oil retails for about $4.95 for 200ml of fragrant jasmine oil. This stuff makes me smile like the babe on the packaging.

The oil is jammed packed with jasmine flower essence. It is like buying a pure single note perfume oil. It is very “tangy” and powerful like a good jasmine. This oil is meant to be used on the hair. You apply it and leave it on for 45 minutes to an hour and rinse out with shampoo. I have done this. Your hair will smell amazing. Forget all of that expensive crap (I’m talking about you Blandi) that smells like jasmine, honeysuckle or whatever. This is the real deal. It leaves my hair so smooth and soft. I have long hair and it needs that extra care. However, what I normally do with this stuff is use it as a body oil after the shower. It leaves my entire body fragrant and well moisturized. I used to use Africa’s Hot Six Oil (don’t say it wrong, it sounds really bad..) but I love the fragrance of this Dabur so much. It leaves my body delicately scented with jasmine, one of my all time favorite scents. A little of this product goes a long way and the price can’t be beat. It can be purchased at most International Markets or Indian spice shops or on smallflower.com.

Jasmine worn in the hair.

It’s a little late in the season to still be obsessing over orange lips, but I can’t help it. I’m wearing it until snow hits the ground. I’ve been inspired by this lovely picture of Rita Hayworth for Down to Earth. To get this pretty simple but glam look you need to apply foundation or concealer as and where needed. I recommend L’Oreal Quick Stick Instant Foundation and Lola Cosmetics Creme Concealer. Lightly dust face with a loose powder such as Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil using a big fluffy brush. Lightly brush brows with Anastasia Brow Gel for definition. Fill in brows with a brow pencil such as the one by Lancome if your brows are light or sparse. Brush a nude eyeshadow such as the lightest shadow in Physician’s Formula Matte Collection Eyeshadow Quad in Canyon Classics all over the lid. With a crease brush, blend in the lighter bottom row shade into the crease from the same compact. Smudge the darkest shade on the top lash line with a liner brush or Q-Tip. False lashes are must to get Rita’s look. Apply a strip of whispy false lashes such as Andrea Mod Strip Lashes. Coat with a mascara if you want extra drama. I think the lashes by themself will add enough but if you want more volume coat with a volumizing mascara. Line lashes with a liquid liner such as Prestige Liquid Liner in Black, the sponge tip of this liner will give you the Rita look that you want. Apply a tiny amount of mascara to bottom lashes or if you have thicker lashes anyways leave them alone. The drama is on the top lashline. Apply Ulta Cream Blush in Bashful onto the apples of your cheek with your fingertips. Don’t be scared to add a little more if needed. Apply a bit of foundation or concealer onto lips so that the lipstick will stay. No lipliner is needed. Apply MAC Lipstick in Morange onto lips. I love this shade. It is an electric orange with no shimmer but has a semi-satin finish. It also has a light vanilla flavor and wears for hours. You’re done. Just apply a lovely lady like fragrance. I’m thinking a gardenia or a jasmine scent such as Estee Lauder Tuberose Gardenia solid perfume dabbed onto the pulse points. You’ll be sure to turn heads like this bleached strawberry blonde.

Maja is a wonderful scent for a great price. It retails for about $19 to $25 depending on the size and where you buy it from. It has a beautiful stylish bottle and logo. I am seriously in love with the vintage packaging. I mean have you seen the adorable soaps? I purchased the EDT spray and the lotion yesterday in a gift set.

Maja, aroma de seducción. Pasión española. Maja, the scent of seduction. Spanish passion.

The scent is described as a “mysterious blend of rose, jasmine and other flowers.” This is not Tabu, this is a pretty delicate blend of roses, but not over rosy. It is clean because it has hints of oak moss with the dry down. The jasmine is there but it is not overwhelming or as pungent as most jasmine. The other flowers are a “family secret”. A family secret of other popular ingredients from the day. I would describe this as a “clean floral” or a “chypre floral”. The EDT does not last long on my skin. It is strong at first but I feel I can’t smell it after 15 minutes. I mix mine with L’Aromarine Mousse de Chêne for a little more lasting power and a cleaner smell but it also mixes well rose or jasmine oil too. I really like the Maja fragrance but I wish it would last longer or that I could find an EDP spray for the cooler times of year.

The Maja Perfumed Body Lotion with Oat Extract is for normal skin. It is a bit too runny for my body butter/cream tastes. It smells wonderul on and really does help the EDT stay on. The lotion is liquidy, silky and absorbs quickly. The lotion retails for about $12. I’m not disappointed with my purchase, I just wish I had it in the summer. This is a very summer set because it is an EDT and the lotion is so lightweight.

This scent has been around for over a 100 years. It is still a family business located in Myrugia. The creator was Esteban Monegal, an artist, sculptor, and violonist, and well, perfumist. The scent is a bit old fashioned for some people’s taste but it is very classic and well done in my opinion. It smells no “older” than Chanel Number 5. It can be found pretty much anywhere. I’ve seen it at Target and Big Lots, smallflower.com and tienda.com sell it too if you don’t feel like searching. I just happened to stumple across a set at Big Lots, glamourous I know. The kit had the lotion and EDT for $7. I’ve been searching for it since the move. Our Wal-Mart and Target used to carry it but I couldn’t find it anywhere in WA. I finally did. I just wish I found it a few months ago in the summer when I really wanted it.

OK, so it’s a bit pricey at $41 for 6.7 ounces but you already know that. Bvlgari Thé Vert is a unisex classic with the clean and refreshing fragrance of green tea. It’s not Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea. This is a bit more crisp and unisex. Elizabeth Arden’s is wonderful in its own right. Bvlgari Eau Parfumée au thé vert bath and shower gel is enriched with jasmine extract, orange blossom extract, and green tea extract to revitalize the skin. This gel is lightly fragranced but manages to still linger on your skin after shower. It foams nicely without leaving skin dry. The refreshing scent is great for both men and women and the light scent can be mixed with other colognes without fighting for all the attention. I really like most of Bvlgari’s products. This is no exception. It isn’t usually in my home. My husband uses it all up before I can even touch it but it is something that I’ve bought more than once.

lil bottle with a jasmine kick

lil' bottle with a jasmine kick

My husband bought me a couple of these L’Aromarine perfume fragrances and parfum sprays a few days ago. I’ve never worn them before and I know that he was attracted to the 30’s Deco packaging like I am (oh, and the cheap price). One of the scents he bought me was Jasmin which is to no surprise being this is one of his fav scents on me.

The bottle is small at 8.5 ml. This size bottle has a pretty plain, but vintage feeling label. The sprays have adorable Deco inspired labels. L’Aromarine is a French perfume oil company that claims to shop around for the best oils available. They say some are from Grasse and others from a small French family owned business. The small bottles are multi-functional. They can be used to refresh potpourri, used in bath (I’m going to add mine to Epsom salt for bath salts), body oil, mixed with alcohol to make an eau de toilette, or wear alone. One thing that all the vendors have in common, they all say “A Little Goes A Long Way.” This is so true.

A Jasmine Bomb

A Jasmine Bomb

The first time that I wore it, I over did it. It was so strong, I dabbed the oil everywhere and spent thirty minutes being an atomic jasmine bomb. Today, I used a minuscule amount and it smells heavenly. On initial application this stuff is strong, it is a very sweet jasmine. It’s very heavy and wears you. Within five minutes it begins to die a little. It begins to smell softer, less sweet but still sweet, and still has that jasmine zing. Within 30 minutes to an hour it is perfect jasmine. It’s soft and someone has to be close to you to smell it. It’s girly, sweet, floral and fresh. I’m sure I could avoid the whole overwhelming at first aspect if I mixed it into vodka. Beautyhabit.com says to mix the whole bottle into 3 ounces of alcohol. This may be nice but I think I’ll keep mine in oil form. I can handle it strong. I can’t wait to make bath salts out of it. One day I may dilute it into apricot kernel oil or something for a body treatment. Currently, I like it so I’ll wait till I get sick of it to do something like that.

I’m really fascinated by this line now. There are a ton of scents. They come in cute packaging and have a great price for the quality that you get. I also have Mousse de Chêne a.k.a. Oakmoss and LOVE it! I’ll review it later when I can actually think about it and not just be intoxicated by it.

My Jasmin parfum sells anywhere from $7.95 to $8.50 depending on what vendor you buy from. I like beautyhabit.com because they are so nice, easy to work with, give great thought out samples, and have fast shipping. I will be ordering more once I make up my mind and that can take sometime.
