This Halloween has really crept up on me between my job being stressful, the renovation, training a smushed faced puppy, and every other little thing that kept coming up. It’s one of my favorites. I was unable to even decorate the new home because the exterior is still a bit “under construction”. It looks spooky as is.

I love Halloween but it is the one day that with my cosmetics I tone it down. I wear very dark lips or dark eyes. I can’t do it on Halloween because I realize just how costumey it can be.

I hope everyone has a very glamorous Halloween, playing it up or playing it down! Have a great one! And don’t you just love this 1920’s flapper goth look by Make Up For Ever. I’ve been swooning over it for sometime. I’ll save for it a non-holiday day.

I’m getting in the mood for Halloween here. I love Star Trek for all of their retro babes in ridiculous, cheesy costumes. To get the look of this minor role, major babe:

FACE: Even out blotches or under eye circles with a concealer that can do it all like Covergirl TruConceal Concealer. Apply foundation where and if needed. I suggest a dewy finish foundation such as The Body Shop Moisture Foundation. If you really love a dewy look, I suggest following up with an illuminating powder like Bare Escentuals Illuminating Mineral Veil. I really think this look calls the perfect peachy pink shimmer of NARS Blush in Orgasm.

EYES: Obviously brows are trying to be ridiculous. Even I agree that this look isn’t for everyday wear. I suggest styling brows in a natural arch with a clear brow gel like Revlon Brow Styling Gel. Apply a cream shadow with a peachy glow like Laura Mercier Satinee Creme Eye Color in Peach Organza all over the lid. This provides a nice glow and lots of hold. Next take a smokey gray with lots of shimmer, something like Milani Runway Eyes Eye Shadow in Black Out (dry not wet). Take the color from the top lash line and fill up to crease. Then in a “cat eye” like motion, sweep the corners outward and up. Apply it this way, as dramatic or as tame as you desire. Apply a black eye liner like Almay Intense i-Color Liner in Black Pearl to top lash line. Of course I say to go all out and apply crazy lashes. Especially if this is a party look. If not, apply lots of black mascara to top lashes and less to bottom lashes.

LIPS: Lips are very simple. Apply a pearly pinky peach lipstick like Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Silver City Pink. Dab the center of the bottom lip with a peach lip gloss, Burt’s Bees Super Shiny Lip Gloss in Juicy Peach.

And is there a fragrance any better than to complete this look for the bottle alone? Nope, stick with Cartier Panthere EDP.

Happy Halloween!

Since a child, I’ve been trying to be as stylish as Julie Newmar a.k.a. Cat Woman. I was in love with her “home” decor on the show, her nude lips, her big hair. What a glamour gal! No wonder I own so much leopard print and false lashes.

First apply concealer where needed, such as Lancome Maquicomplet Complete Coverage Concealer and then apply a powder foundation such as Guerlain Parure Compact Foundation in your shade, Julie would so have something in this case. Brush brows into place (unlike Cat Woman’s which were always messy and pointed up strangely), use a tinted brow gel such as Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel in your shade, for brows like Julie’s try Caramel. This look is all about a heavy handed eye. Apply foundation powder to eyelid to adsorb oil and make shadow stay on longer. Apply a nude shadow from lashline to brow. I would recommend the lightest shade in Guerlain Ombre Eclat Duo & Liner in L’Heure Fumee. Blend the darker shade from the duo from lashline to crease. Blend a little bit more of the lighter shade under the brow bone to “liven” up the look. Take the dark gel liner from the compact and line eyes “cat eye” style of course. This can be applied extra thick for glamor, just for glamor sake. Apply false lashes or tons of mascara to add emphasis to the eye area. Add Guerlain Terracotta Light Sheer Bronzing Powder in Blonde to the apples of cheeks. This stuff is lovely and is truly a complexion perfector. Apply a nude lip liner such as Guerlain Lip Pencil in Cupidon. Guerlain has the perfect lip color for this look. Apply the amazing Guerlain Kiss Kiss Stick Gloss in Vanilla Beige to lips. This color is so Angela Jolie too. Of course tease hair and spray with hair spray, shake it and let it look a bit messy. Apply fragrance, not to be cliche but I do recommend Cartier Panthere Eau Legere or By Dolce & Gabbana to complete this feline look.

My Baby Boo!

I haven’t smelled these but I want this kit so bad. It is absolutely adorable and contains the scents of three of my favorite fall seasonal treats. This limited edition kit contains three 6 ounce bottles of Philosophy’s high-foaming 3-in-1 shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath. The flavors of the day are Black Licorice, Caramel Apple, and Pumpkin Spice Muffin. I love licorice and always have that flavour of Altoids in my purse. I am not a huge fan of caramel apples but I like the smell (too rough on the teeth and they smear lipstick all over my face), it brings back pleasant childhood memories. And I adore pumpkin spice muffins. I’m still working hard to rid my bod of the few I overindulged last autumn:( Plus, I’m a little bit of a closet goth so I like spooky things. It makes me think of The House On Haunted Hill.)

I’ve used Philosophy’s shower gel before and thought that it was a high quality product that was lots of fun. The scents are strong in the shower but don’t leave your skin scented like champagne or red velvet cake. They are high-foaming like they claim to be. And I’ve used them on my hair and liked the results.

This set is a limited edition for Halloween. I love fall and all the sensations that it brings. I can’t wait to get my hands on this. It retails for $30 and each fragrance is available on its own in larger bottles for $16. And I’m sure they’ll make matching limited edition lip glosses too. I can only find Caramel Apple Lip Gloss on the website. Maybe the other two flavours will show.
