Sometimes I buy things and I really don’t know why I did. This little Eau de Toilette spray is one of those things. It was cheap, $5 for less than an ounce spray. It was summer and I thought for some reason that I would like to smell like strawberries. Why? I have never wanted to smell like strawberries but I guess I thought it would smell fresh for summer. Fruit smells are so difficult to replicate. I know when I added this to my cart I was thinking of farmer’s markets strawberries, slightly ripening and softening in the little baskets under the warm summer sun. I could smell their sickly sweetness that was just strawberry. I know that capturing a fruit is virtually impossible but I thought that it couldn’t go that wrong. I just wanted the “memory” or the “atmosphere” of strawberry. This kind of does that. It is sweet, but not as disgusting as strawberry Jolly Ranchers or big globs of strawberry bubble gum but it does come close. This is sweet and not very realistic. It smells of strawberry in an artificial sense. I’m not upset, I think I payed less than $5 for it. I’ve bought Escada fragrances that were more disgusting. This fixes that berry fix and did teach me a lesson. This would make a nice EDT spray for a little girl or even a teen girl. Or for someone that likes those Escada fragrances that I speak of. I also want to add that strawberries are trying to kill me as I found out this past weekend over a pound of ripe strawberries that I am allergic to them. Argghh! So maybe I’ll come to love this fragrance since I can’t enjoy the real thing.

So my fragrance obsession is involved with every aspect of my life. Even boring things like keeping house and cleaning. I wash my stone and tile floors with warm water and dish soap. I was using some boring ole generic orange stuff. I thought if I am going to have to spend like an hour on my knees scrubbing floors I want a nice fragrance experience. That’s where Mrs. Meyer’s came in. I chose the geranium scent because it is such a romantic rose fragrance that reminds me of summer time and farmer’s markets. I love this stuff. It has a lovely lather, it cleaned my floors wonderfully, it isn’t tested on animals, and it contains essential oils. It has a delicate rose geranium scent that isn’t as strong and as piercing as a rose. This scent is softer but still added fragrance to my house. Plus, using it was fun. It is more expensive than most other dish soaps but a little goes a long way. It retails for $5 but I got mine on sale for $4. I will be repurchasing. I was really impressed with the quality of cleaning. I’ve used other natural products in the past that didn’t do such a hot job. And this stuff did not dry out my hands like other soapy water mixtures have. I usually have horrible jagged cuticles after scrubbing floors but not this time. It can be picked up at most grocery stores or drugstore.com.

Beetroot is one my favorite Demeter fragrances. It is exactly what it says it is, a beet root. It is dirty and earthy. It is dead on fresh from the Farmer’s Market, covered in dirt and earth beet root. I feel like I can smell the individual dirt granules. After it dries down a bit, you can smell a hint of the bitter fresh, greens. It is bitter, dirty, and earthy. It isn’t stale or dry but more “wet” and alive/fresh/new. If you want to know what this fragrance smells like plant plant some beets, wait a few months, and pull them out of the ground one dewy morning. Or if you’re like me and too lazy to do that. Go to the Farmer’s Market and choose the most gnarly, huge and filthy beet they have and hold it up to your nose and breathe in. This is it. This fragrance is lovely alone and I find it so comforting. It’s a rustic smell that I crave. Maybe I need the iron:) I highly recommend this fragrance to anyone that loves dirty, natural or unusual fragrances. I love it and next time I am going to buy the 4 ounce spray. I love to wear it, spray it on my linens or spray it in the air. It’s funny but it smells so “real” that sometimes I get a little nervous feeling spraying it on my skin or white linens. It is like my nose can’t communicate to my brain that it is synthetic and then I think it is real and going to stain my sheets or skin a pink-ish beet red. But, it doesn’t and I love it. I can smell it on my skin up to a few hours after spraying it, making it pretty long lasting for Demeter.

No smell this and tell me it dont stink.

Now smell this and tell me it don't stink.
