I would sum this eye cream up as a great preventive eye cream for normal skin. A “starter” eye cream as I call them. I’ve been using it since the beginning of summer. It is odorless, very creamy, fast absorbing, no stingy despite its SPF of 20. It does have a “souffle” like texture. It’s nice. However, it doesn’t do very much other than “protect” and moisturize. It has done nothing for dark circles. As far as fine lines goes, which this product claims to “reduce”, I haven’t noticed that. But, I am 25. I don’t really have fine lines. I need to prevent them as much as I can. Like I said, this is a “starter” eye cream. You should be using this during the day if you have pretty good skin anyways. Or you should use more of a treatment eye cream in the PM to address certain concerns. I will most likely purchase again, especially for summer months. It’s difficult to find that high of a SPF that doesn’t sting the eyes plus this does provide some moisture and my concealer just glides right on afterwards, no tugging. One day I know I will graduate to more of a heavy duty eye cream during the day, for now this will do. It retails for $47, not bad for a Dior product, and can be purchased on sephora.com.

Cucumber is a great scent for summer. It is light, fresh, slightly green and fruity with a watery and faint melon like odor. I crave cucumbers in the summer. Everything from little tea sandwiches of cucumber, dill, and cream cheese to my water pitchers of cucumber, lemon, and mint. Cucumbers are refreshing. I’ve put together a “collage” of cucumber scents that I think would be perfect for summer. And as always if you have any more to add, please do.

Budget Scents: This isn’t a “true” cucumber since it is a fresh, fruity floral but it dose have a healthy dose of cucumber: Carol’s Daughter Ocean. It retails for $27 and is nice for summer. This is light-wearing but awesome for summer: Tocca Aqua Amalfi Body Mist. It reminds me of a my favorite summer beverage which is water with cucumber, lemon, and mint. It retails for $30. Now, this product is very light wearing too but it is nice for a mid-day pick-up: Dove Go Fresh Body Mist in Cucumber & Green Tea. It retails for $4.50. It’s a “fresh” scent. I love the “pureness” of Kiehl’s Rollerball Essence Oil. It retails for $25 and has a great lasting power. I really do love everything about it. You can layer it with whatever you want. I think it would wear nicely with white florals or lemon/citrus oils. Demeter Cucumber is a garden fresh cucumber scent that goes for $20. It smells great but also has a light staying power. There is an entire genre of “Cucumber Melon” products from brands like Bath and Body Works, Avon, Body Fantasies. These are usually body sprays that are more on the melon side than cucumber.

More Expensive Scents: You get a lot of cologne splash for $68 with Marc Jacob Cucumber. This is a crisp and refreshing blend. This is a flirty floral cucumber scent: Yosh U4EAHHH!. It retails for $130 and I love its staying power and freshness. It is so pretty. Tocca Cleopatra is more of a citrus scent(grapefruit) but it has cucumber and it makes it refreshing. The EDP spray retails for $68. It’s a nice “heavier” summer kind of cucumber. Like the evening wear of cucumber. Jalaine Cucumber is a long-wearing fragrance that comes in a beautiful bottle. It is a blend of cucumber and Egyptian musk. It’s simple but heavenly and goes for $150. Fresh Index line has Cucumber Bale. It is a perfect summer scent with lots of cucumber, fruit, and blackberry musk. It goes for $75 (not pictured). But, I am not wild about its staying power.

Other “Cool” Products: Yes To Cucumbers Completely Cooling Body Butter is really awesome for summer. It’s moisturizing, cooling, and refreshing. Keep it in the fridge, its’ great for overheated skin. Kiehl’s Deluxe Body Lotion in Cucumber has such a fresh scent and a lightweight moisturizer. Origins Eye Doctor Moisture Care For Skin Around Eyes is cooling, lightly moisturizing, and has a fresh cucumber scent. It is great “beginner” eye cream. Estee Lauder Sparkling Clean Purifying Mud Foam Cleanser has a nice citrus and cucumber aroma. It’s a cleanser for oily skins. I also like Mario Dadescu Cucumber Cleansing Lotion. Once again this is a product recommended for oily skin. Many cucumber scented items are recommended for oily skin. I have normal to dry skin but sometimes in the summer I will reach for the normal to oily products because I get a bit greasy, especially when I lived in the humid Southeast. So it’s a nice match between product and scent.

And since I usually wear cucumber scents during the summer, I keep them stashed in the fridge, especially the all-over splashes and sprays. It is so refreshing and great for when you can’t take the heat.

This eye balm really doesn’t do much but I like it. OK, some background information. I have pretty normal skin that goes a little dry in the winter. I am young, mid-20’s, so it isn’t like I am combating deep lines. I really just like the idea of preventive care. I get really dry, even around the eyes in the winter. This is just a basic, rich but quick absorbing odorless eye cream. I love to use this at night. It is so smooth so it doesn’t tug the eye area. It combats lines, just those caused by harsh and dry climates. A little bit goes a long way. It hasn’t irritated my eyes or migrated into other areas since it absorbs so quickly. It is cheap too at $30. As you know, eye creams aren’t so cheap. Of course, this really doesn’t do much either… Anyways, I really recommend this for those living in extreme climates and those with dry skin. If you have serious “eye issues”, don’t use this. Go for something with an acid or something. But, if you do have serious “eye issues” this would work wonderfully mixed with concealer for the undereye area. It would keep things from settling in the creases and from tugging away at the delicate eye area. It’s a gentle cream, I like it but I know that our relationship will only last a few years before I have to move on to bigger and better creams for the eye area 😦 It is available at DERMAdoctor.

I don’t like to go around dogging products but I really hated this stuff. We are entitled to our opinion, right? I got this stuff and I thought it was defective and that is never a good sign. I thought there is no way this is the stuff that lots of people are raving about. It felt like smearing super glue under my eyes. It wouldn’t absorb and was sticky. It would “tug” at my undereye area. I felt like I was creating wrinkles by using this. In fact, super glue would of felt better under my eyes. It wouldn’t of been so clumpy. It didn’t do anything that it claimed to do. Now that isn’t too much of surprise, many skincare items do not do what they claim. But, I was at least looking for something that made my skin feel and look better than using nothing at all. My skin felt better sans products. This product also had a strange chemical odor. I could put up with this if I felt like it was doing stuff. I felt it made my eyes puffy. It claims it is for sensitive skin, which it may be, but it isn’t for sensitive eyes. The chemical odor burned my eyes. I had to return this stuff. It was $45 and I have used concealer that got rid of more puffiness and wrinkles than this. In fact, a cool wash cloth feels better than this. And what the heck? “Light Diffusers”. I didn’t even see those in this product. Maybe I got a bad batch or something but I could not see any shimmer or anything. Oh, and try to put concealer over this stuff. Concealer stuck to the “patches” of this stuff. It was horrible. I don’t even want to think about it anymore.

Would of been a better investment.

Seriously, I am. It gives me an instant “lift”, if only they made bras… Anyways, I am a sucker for “brightening” products. My skin can never look too glowy in my opinion. So that was my initial attraction to this product. I usually don’t like concealers with brushes. They tend to get goopy and I don’t use the brush tip anyways. I didn’t let this keep me from this product. I still twist it up and put it on the back of my hand and use my fingers. I like how the heat from my fingers “melts” the product into my skin. This stuff looks so seamless on me. No creepy lines, no dark circles. It is amazing. And like most Prescriptives products it comes in a lot of colors. I love this stuff because it makes my eye area feel “tight”. I know that sounds uncomfortable but it isn’t. I feel awake and like I just used a caffeine gel under my eyes. This stuff claims to firm skin and minimize the appearance of lines. I really do believe that it has. It is like an eye cream and a concealer in one. It is said that 84% of women noticed an improvement with it. Count me as one too. I get less sleep but look more awake. I have no complaints with this product. It is long wearing, water-resistant ( a big plus when in the rainy Seattle weather), it covers nicely and never is drying. I can deal with the brush when a product is this fab. Plus, level 2 warm matches my skin perfectly. I love this stuff. It retails for $22 and is available at most department stores and nordstrom.com.
