Caramel isn’t my everyday go to kind of fragrance note. It’s very sweet and creamy. That being said that is the reason I will go to it. Sometimes I just want something rich, sweet, and creamy. I love it when it has a burnt quality like dulce de leche. Here’s a caramel fragrance guide that I’ve thrown together, covering all price points. It’s for the gooey caramel lover and the occasionally burnt sugary caramel flirt.

Budget Caramel Scents (Under $50): French West Indies Caramel EDT is a “pure” caramel scent, sweet and lush. The 4 oz. bottle retails for $42. Demeter Cologne PMU has Caramel, a rich, gooey caramel and Dulce de Leche, a gourmand caramel. This is one that I really like for my “fix”. The 1 oz. sprays go for $20. (Neither of these are very long-lasting). Carol’s Daughter Pearls EDT is a foody blend of juicy citrus-floral with a vanilla and caramel base. The 2.5 oz spray retails for $45. Laura Mercier Creme Brulee EDT is what the name implies. It’s rich and foody. The 1.7 oz bottle retails for $50. mark Jewel EDT is a blend of fruits and florals with a caramel dry-down. This gourmand in a 1.5 oz. spray retails for $20.

More Expensive Caramel Scents: This is not to my liking but it does contain a pretty heavy dose of caramel along with other sweets and a few florals: Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy EDP. The 3.4 oz spray goes for $85 and it is a longer wearing fragrance. Dior Miss Dior Chérie EDP is a sweet gourmand that even I can like. It is more “caramelized” with strawberries, greens, and patchouli. The 3.4 bottle goes for $92. Estee Lauder Pleasures Delight EDP is a dessert with your florals kind of fragrance. It has caramel along with marshmallow and flirty florals like freesia and peony. The 3.4 oz goes for $72. Acqua di Parma Arancia de Capri EDT is a sensual citrus fragrance with a lush caramel base that isn’t overwhelming. The 2 oz. goes for $68. Comptoir Sud Pacifique Caramel Sunset EDT is a coconut and caramel blend. It’s a tropical caramel. The 1.7 oz retails for $53.

5 Other Great Caramel Items: Philosophy Creme Brulee 3-in-1 gel is rich and foody. It retails for $16 and the dessert like aroma will not linger after the shower. Slatkin & Co. Home Fragrance Oil Vanilla Caramel lingers in the home for sometime. A bottle retails for $7.50. Lush Vanilla Fountain Bath Bomb is a luxurious bath item. It is like a creme brulee for the bath. It goes for about $6. Diana B. Foaming Facial Sugar Scrub is almost creme brulee-ish in fragrance.  A tube retails for $50.

Every now and then I will smell a fragrance on a blotter card that will make me cringe, this one gave me a toothache. It was like spraying raspberry jam, pecan pie and caramel onto a blotter card. It was quite shocking. I am writing a review and I must remind you that I did not dare wear this on my skin. I also like big bold florals and headshop patchouli. I am not your typical under 25 fragrance consumer but I do like some “sweet” things (check out the Demeter reviews) and I did fall madly in love with the original Juicy Couture EDP.

The bottle of Viva La Juicy is pretty and looks almost identical to the original except this one has a huge hot pink bow. It reminds me so much of their ugly velour jumpsuits since it has the gold accents that look like one of their 24K spray paint buttons or zippers that they add to their “sweats” looks. The bottle is heavy and hearty and I can’t complain about that. But, I will complain about the juice. I hate to be this person since we all have our opinions but I found this really gross. The floral notes did not stand out to me at all. I did not pick up on the gardenia or jasmine. This is the biggest difference between this one and the original. It wasn’t made grown-up by florals. Instead it smells of berries, not ripe blackberries hitting the grass on a hot, late summer day but of raspberry filled jelly doughnuts at 10 in the morning. It smells “sticky” like caramel and it reminds me of pecan pie or something. The company does list “praline” as a note. I am not wild about pralines so maybe that is why it just reminds me of a pie that I would never choose to eat. It smells of vanilla. (Like we needed anything else to sweeten this up with). This fragrance just smells like a Duncan Doughnuts has exploded. It smells like it would attract bugs and not in a good way. It isn’t like bees or butterflies will come to you because you smell of a fragrant garden. It is more of a roach or ant attractor because this is so gourmand.

This is a scent that my 14 year old sister would like and that is fine. I expect a young girl to like this. And that is fine for a young teen who is more into image or what the other kids are wearing at school. This is super “young”.  The notes are in your face and not very mature. It’s like Velveta Shells and Cheese. They aren’t bad but you must admit that it isn’t a very mature taste. It is something that adults can’t eat everyday but a kid could. If you like sweet foody scents then you may like this. (For example, if you like the LE Escada scents, Dior Miss Dior Cherie, Aquolina Pink Sugar, or sweet, foody scents by like Bath and Body Works). But, I do not think you will like this if you liked the original Juicy Couture or if you don’t want to smell like a pastry. The 1.7 ounce retails for $65 and the 3.4 ounce for $85. You can also get a 1/4 ounce roll-on for $16 if you only want to smell like dessert sometimes or if you want to smell like dessert on the go.

Viva La Juicy Perfume for Women Eau De Parfum Spray 1.7 Oz by Juicy Couture

Urban Decay has released a beautiful line of lipsticks that are so hip that it hurts. Now everyone can conceal a weapon in their purse with or without permit. There are like a bazillion shades and such an awesome variety with different coverages and finishes. I love how the website www.urbandecay.com has little tabs to help you choose which shade fits your tastes. There’s full coverage, semi-sheer, sheer, cream, sheen and shimmer. I wish all websites had that option because face it we don’t buy in person all the time as beauty addicts.

The case is darling. It has a clear Urban Decay scribbley top. But, the best part is that it has a heavy dagger piercing through the bottom. It’s edgy and beautiful. It is very nice. I am a lipstick wearer and I consider it my weapon. Some of my favorite shades include: Revolution which is a true creamy red that screams pin-up girl, Peroxide a pale pink that looks lovely with dark eyes, Apocalypse which is a sheer blackberry wine stained your lips shade, and Gash a full coverage, wet vampy red shade.

Plus the lipsticks have a delicious nom, nom, nom caramel creme fragrance.

They retail for $22 a piece. Too bad I’m set on every shade of lipstick known to mankind because I’d have to buy a shade in each color family. They can be purchased on beauty.com.
