Red velvet cake is a very sentimental item in my life. I kissed the man that was to be my husband for the first time over a red velvet cake and my wedding cake was red velvet and every special occasion we have good ole’ Southern red velvet cake. I was really happy to find this product even though I really don’t want to smell like cake batter. However, this gel makes me really happy and smells like the rich, real thing.

Philosophy Red Velvet Cake Ulra-Rich-3-In-1 Shower Gel, Shampoo, and Bubble Bath is a multi-tasking bottle crammed full of sweetness. It smells like a real homemade red velvet cake but doesn’t leave you smelling like one all day. It just makes the shower into a bakery for a short time. It is rich, sweet, vanilla-ish and buttery and 100% yummy. It smells edible. I’m usually sick of it by the time I am finished with a 16 ounce bottle. But, it does make me happy while I have it. It makes me think of my honey. You can gag now.

The formula is very high foaming. I have used it as shampoo and didn’t hate it. I usually use it as a shower gel but it makes a wonderful bubble bath. It reatails for $16 and you can get it at sephora.com or philosophy.com. It won’t make you fat either even though it seems like it would, inhaling all that creamy sweetness.

I wish I could write a bad review of this since it so expensive and I need to talk myself out of buying another one. (It retails for $80 for about 13 ounces of fluid, that is some expensive sake.) Fresh Rice Sake Bath comes in a beautiful but simple glass bottle. It detoxifies and renews the body and leaves the skin feeling lovely. It contains 50% sake, pine, ginger, daikon, spearmint, pomengrante and valerian. Sounds like one heck of a mixed sake drink. For years sake has been used to lighten sun spots (geishas used this) and pine has anti-bacterial properties. Whatever it does, I don’t really care. I like the way it feels.

Put it into a really hot bath and relax. The fragrance is a little too fruity for my taste but it isn’t sacharin. It smells of peaches, apricots and a dash of cassis. There is a hint of ginger. I like it. Anyways, you will really start sweating like you are in a sauna. It totally becomes a “detox” experience. I usually shower with a blast of icy cold water afterwards and then chill and relax with a glass of ice water with cucumber and lemon. Being in this foam bath actually raises your heart rate. It just feels good especially if you are feeling chill or ill. It is a nice product. I don’t know how long it should last but I felt my bottle didn’t last long. But, I do have a tendency to use too much. I’ve heard other people say this lasts forever. If I buy another bottle, trust me, I will make it last longer.

You can buy it at sephora.com or beauty.com.

It is that time of year. All of the too cute cosmetics gift sets are hitting the market for whatever holiday you do or don’t celebrate. I love to take advantage of all of the cuteness. I buy myself presents. Forget the holidays. Why don’t they offer stuff like this yearly?

Philosophy has just released a cute mini trio of 3-in-1 shower gels, shampoo, and bubble baths all housed in an adorable “recipe” box. This kit contains three delicious 2.0 oz bottles of guilt-free sweetness. There is Red Velvet Cake (one of my fave Philosophy shower delights), Strawberry Shortcake, and Sweet Creamy Frosting (yummy!) So, this isn’t the best deal on the planet. It retails for $18 for a total of 6 oz. of shower gel. But, it is pretty darn cute. I get so sick of things quickly. I get to the point where I am wasting shower gel so I can get a new one. So, this is good for me. I can have a quick fix of a sickly sweet fragrance and go on with my life. I do like this formula. It is very foaming, multi-purpose and doesn’t linger all day on the skin. You won’t smell like Miss Strawberry Shortcake at the office. This is a limited edition set and can be purchased at Sephora stores and sephora.com.

I use a lot of products, being a cosmetic addict and all, and I love this drugstore find. This shower gel retails for about $5.50 and is huge. The fragrance is really nice and fruity. It isn’t “pomegranate” per se because I have found that pomegranate is really hard to reduplicate. I still haven’t found a pomegranate fragrance that seems genuine. Anyways, this fragrance is fruity and smells “ripe”/”tart” and has a pretty expensive vibe. The mango is a wonderful touch to the mix. I feel like I can smell the skin of a ripe mango. It has a bit of a citrusy edge too. It is very fragrant in the shower but doesn’t linger on your skin too long so you it doesn’t fight with the other fragrances that you wear. I do wish there was a body cream in this fragrance because I would love to smell like this all day. It’s a very energizing fragrance. It has “moisture” beads which are OK. I don’t think it really makes a difference other than cosmetic, they look nice floating in the wine red gel formula. It lathers very nicely and a little goes a long way. It also makes a fab bubble bath. It is available at drugstores and Wal-Mart/Target and can be bought on drugstore.com.
