Smeared on my hand without primer.

Smeared on my hand without primer.

I really like this NARS Eyeshadow Duo. Rated R has one of the best greens in the world in it. It is a bright acid green with tons of gold shimmer. It is loud and wears nicely with any shade from eggplant to chocolate brown. It looks alot like MAC Eyeshadow in Bitter. However, this green has tons of gold shimmer. This gives it depth and just makes it down right fun. The blue isn’t too bad either. It is a royal blue with tons of silver shimmer. I do prefer it over many of MAC’s blue shades. My only complaint is that like so many blues, this one turns a bit green on my eye lid. I have to wear a primer to keep it looking just as vivid as it is in the compact.

These two colors do wear nicely together but I do prefer to keep them separate. I find that they “fade” or look “dull” when worn together.  I love to wear the acidic green all the way up to the crease with a nude champagne shimmer under it. I like to wear MAC Chrome yellow in the inside corner of the eye and under the bottom lashline. I love to wear MAC Orange or in the crease. And I like to top it off with a nice black liquid liner. Trade the Orange out for MAC Hepcat and you have another great look. Sometimes I like to wear this green shade alone as a wash. Or for my more “neutral” look. The same champagne shade under the green with a deep dark chocolate brown in the crease with smoky brown liner.

The blue looks nice mixed with greens or other blues. I like to wear it with a frosty white eyeshadow underneath. Like Clinique Sugar Sugar or MAC Crystal Avalanche. I wear the blue all the way up to the crease. I like to blend a deep blue in the crease like MAC Plumage. I line with navy or black liner. It is a nice look. A bit Liz Taylor as Cleopatra. Pair with super nude matte lips and it looks wonderful.

I feel like for such “bold” colors, I get my $32 out of it. These shades wear nicely with others that I own. I mean what else can you mix a hot pink shadow with? It can be purchased at beauty.com.

I am so happy that I saw this before I bought it. It is such a rip! It retails for $70 which isn’t bad for 35 bright matte eyeshadows by Bobbi Brown. Bobbi Brown eyeshadows come in a great formula, pack pigment, and blend easily. I love them. When I saw this I was shocked! Each “pan” is so extremely tiny and it seems you would only get a few wears out of each color. Yes, you get a variety but you do not get much of it. This is not a palette for gals that aren’t afraid of color. This is a palette for gals that just might like to “try” color every now and then. It is 6.3″ long and 4.25″ wide. That is really tiny considering that 35 shadows are crammed into this slim and tiny compact! The shadows which range from in your face brights to some washed out pales come in a sleek (tiny) black compact with a mirror. I will not be buying this and I am so happy that I tried it before I bought it! Another makeup mistake has been avoided!

shu eumara is offering us some bold colors and graphic floral packages to wake us up this holiday season. This winter isn’t about snowflakes but the anticipation of spring and bold blossoms. The collection is a project between shu and Mika Ninagawa, a Japanese photographer and director. The colors range from wake me up bolds to everyday neutrals. I love it. It is graphic, it is colorful and the packaging is pure artwork. I love the ad campaign. All of the models look flawless and I am all about these “fascinator” headwear things.

EYES: There are three limited edition eyeshadow eye color palettes. Each compact contains 10 wonderful mixable shades. Midnight Winter Sakura comes in a beautiful cherry blossom compact. The colors are a little more “winter-ish” than the others. They are rich and neutral. It comes with rich browns, taupes, mauves and a blue. There is Adorned Marguerite. The compact is plastered with 60’s flower power daisies. The colors in this compact are a bit bolder. The colors range from lime green to baby pink to acid yellow to cool purple. It is a very beautiful compact with lots of possibilities. Lastly, there is Secret Luscious Rose. The compact is covered with romantic red roses. The colors are dusty and range from mauve to gray to moss. It’s very lovely and make great “neutrals” that aren’t just brown. There is a Drawing Pencil Mini Trio Set. It contains three mini liners in a rich blue, warm burgundy-ish brown and rich black. They all come in a blue rose box. Two artistic set of lashes are available. There is the lovely pair, Mini Red, seen on the model above. And there is a Slant Purple pair which is just heavenly too.

LIPS: There are two adorable Unlimited Lip Gloss Mini Trio Sets that contain three min glosses and a super cute, graphic makeup bag. There is Seductive Gerbera which comes with a red gerbera bag. The glosses are beautiful and contain a nude gold, baby pink and a rich wine. The other set is Delicous Rose which comes in a tropical orange rose bag. The glosses are bold and vivid and contain a bright orange, bright fuschia and a vivid red. Three Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks in a peony pink and white case have been launched. The three colors include: Brown Beige, Orange Beige and Pink Beige. The last being my favorite.

OTHER STUFF: Two Nail Enamels are available in Tanzanite Aquarium. It is a color changing rich blue with silver glitter. The other is Garnet Aquarium which is a deep shimmering merlot. There is a portable brush set that comes in a beautiful red rose bag. And there is a makeup bag with rainbow colored chrysantheums.

I like it, I really like the eye color palettes the best. I may need one of them to help me make it through the gloomy winter that is ahead. Find out more about the collection on shuuemura-usa.com.

Covergirl Tropical Fusion

Covergirl Tropical Fusion

I got this shadow quad free with a purchase of a Covergirl mascara. I thought I’d give this shadow a try. It really looks like Covergirl is trying to be “wild” and has launched some louder than normal colors. So here is my review of the quad 205 Tropical Fusion.

Tropical Fusion consists of four shimmery shades: royal blue, teal, salmon and a pale lime green. The colors are bright in the container but not so on the skin. The shadows feel like Covergirl shadows. They are kind of chalky and crumble easily. They aren’t horrible, they just aren’t great. The colors mixed together look horrible. It just isn’t “vibrant” enough and starts looking kind of chalk board-ish. The blue comes on pretty intense and looks great with NARS Rated R Eyeshadow Duo. The teal comes on nicely too. It looks great with MAC Bitter and any pearly white or silver shade. The salmon shade is pretty weak but it doesn’t look horrible on. It isn’t as bright as the compact would lead you to believe. It makes my blue eyes pop when I wear this shade in the crease with a nude matte shade or a pale shimmery white gold. It is very work week appropriate without being too boring. The pale lime green is very chalky and doesn’t really show up. I have to really layer it. It doesn’t look horrible as a base shade with lets say something like Urban Decay Mildew for a smoky eye. These shadows would really benefit from a base like Urban Decay Primer Potion or maybe foundation on the eyelids. But, this still doesn’t make them “vibrant”. The quad costs anywhere between $4 and $5 and coupons are usually available. It isn’t horrible. It just doesn’t work together and needs a lot of tweaking from other shadows for it to work. I’ll keep using it but most likely won’t buy again. It can be purchased at many mainstream stores and drugstore.com.

I really don’t know what to say other than I love this new Make Up For Ever 12 Color Case Palette. This kit is packed with 12 bright and creamy colors that can be used on eyes, lips and cheeks. These make for some awesome eye liners. The robin’s egg blue, electric yellow, and bright spring green make some of my favorite non-traditional eyelienrs. The coral looks so hot on lips, eyes, and cheeks. The metallic silver and gold are fab on eyes and lips. And the dark brown and black are the perfect precise eyeliners for every day. Flash Colors are chock full of mind blowing pigment, have the best texture and really stay. I love them. These colors can be mixed to make your own custom color. This compact is perfect for makeup bags and travel. It sells for $93 and is available at sephora.com. I love it!
